Overview :

Hot water recirculating systems are plumbing installations designed to provide instant hot water at the tap, reducing the time and water wasted waiting for the water to heat up. The primary goal of these systems is to deliver hot water quickly to the point of use, such as faucets or showers, without the need for the user to run the water and wait for it to reach the desired temperature.

How It Works?

  • Pump: A recirculating pump is installed in the plumbing system, usually at or near the water heater.
  • Return Line: A dedicated return line connects the furthest hot water fixture back to the water heater. This creates a loop, allowing hot water to circulate continuously.
  • Temperature Sensor or Timer: Some systems use a temperature sensor that activates the pump when the water in the hot water line cools below a certain set temperature. Others may use a timer to schedule when the pump operates, ensuring hot water is available during peak usage times.
  • Check Valve: A check valve is often installed in the hot water line to prevent backflow and maintain the hot water circulation loop.
